If you want to get deeply in touch with Dalí’s art and life you will definitely love visiting his biggest museum worldwide, where the artist’s dream came true with the opening of the Dalí Theatre-Museum. This museum is one of the many highlights and is the essential part of every tour dedicated to the genius. Located in Figueres, the birthplace of the legendary artist, the museum was conceived and designed by Dalí himself. Considered as the biggest surrealistic project in the world, you will see that even the building is a work of art. The Dalí Theatre-Museum was built upon the remains of the former Figueres theatre and finally inaugurated in 1974. The painter decided to create this space and to place in it the most representative part of his art: surrealist creations spanning from his earliest artistic experiences to the works of the last years of his life. You will find various collections which include everything so that you can understand the evolution of 20th-century art: painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, installation, hologram, stereoscopy, photography. After the visit there is free time for lunch in Figueres - stroll around its picturesque streets and see the church of Sant Pere, where Dalí was baptised.

1) Dalí-House visit option:
Following the footsteps of the surrealistic artist, we will reach the incomparable Costa Brava and its most archetypal town of Cadaqués, one of the pillars of the artistic movement in Southern Europe. It was a meeting point for artists such as Picasso, Dalí, Juan Miro, Henri Matisse, Mick Jagger, etc. Located in a peaceful bay next to Cadaqués, is the tiny village of Portlligat where you will admire the House of Dalí. When Dalí met the love of his life, Gala, he broke away from his parents and bought a fisherman’s hut there. He painted here a great part of his works. Enjoy a guided visit inside the house and see their original furniture and decoration and many others details which will help you to discover more of the human personality of the painter. Admire the views from the house, a major source of inspiration for Dalí.

2) Gala-Dalí Castle in Púbol visit option:
Have a tour of the famous Púbol Castle, the most extravagant gift that Dalí gave his Russian wife Gala. The castle offers a fascinating perspective of the painter’s lifestyle, exhibiting paintings and drawings, dedicated to the love of his life and the “queen of the castle”. This site is located next to La Pera village where it was said that Gala set up residence and Dalí was only allowed to visit by written invitation of her.
