Dive into centuries of history, walk along the medieval streets of the old bohemian neighborhood of Born and visit the impressive Picasso Museum!
On this tour you will first discover one of the most emblematic neighborhoods of Barcelona!
Created as the place where were celebrated medieval tournaments, fiestas and processions, El Born remains the cultural hub of Barcelona still today. Here you will find art galleries, design shops, authentic cafes, bars and restaurants. With the authentic feel of El Born you will be as the first merchants and craftsmen who settled their shops here, learning why today most of the streets recall their trade names and have preserved their original titles.
The walking tour will start in front of the old mercat del Born, fully renovated into a cultural center, and then proceed to the main street, Passeig del Born. This historic street was the center of the medieval quarter and it is also famous for its nightlife. See the monument dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Spanish War. Proceed to the heart of the old neighborhood where the impressive Santa Maria del Mar Cathedral still stands.
The tour continues towards one of the most noble medieval streets of Born, Carrer de Montcada, where in XII century, beautiful mansions were built for the wealthy families. Nowadays these palaces house art museums and galleries such as the most famous Picasso museum. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum and understand the evolution of the genius Picasso. Today the Picasso Museum exposes more than 4,200 of its works and tells visitors about the strong relationship between the artist and the city of Barcelona.
