First to explore is Girona, the largest city in northern Catalonia, divided by a river in two parts – the Old Town and the new one. This church boasts about its having the widest Gothic nave in the world, and amazes people with its Baroque façade and stairway with ninety steps. Continue with the Church of Sant Feliu and stroll along the top of the city walls for stunning views. Your next stop is Besalú, where you will literally step back in time. The star attraction without a doubt is the 11th century Fortified bridge with its two tower gates over the river Fluvià. Walking around you will admire the Jewish quarter, the monastery of Sant Pere and the church of Sant Vincenç, the old city walls and the Plaça Major.
